Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does the process work?

Working with NuHealth Placenta, Inc. is as simple as a few easy steps! From the moment you sign up to giving birth. You'll select your encapsulation package from our Shop Page where you can complete your order, add-on your upgrades, and submit either a deposit or pay in full. You will be sent a collection kit based on your location prior to giving birth. Your placenta will be checked-into our facility for processing once it has been received; when your capsules are complete, we will schedule your delivery!

2. Can I request more info before purchasing my package?

Absolutely! Submit your contact info here and a NuHealth Placenta Consultant will contact you directly.

3. Does it have to be my placenta?

NuHealth Placenta provides placenta encapsulation services to the birthing person only. We do not sell or collect donated placentas for processing.

4. Do I have to pay the hospital to release my own placenta?

No, your placenta is your legal property and does not belong to the hospital or birth facility at any point. Typically the hospital will have the patient sign a placenta release form identifying who will be keeping the placenta post delivery.

5. Can I use your service if I'm having a home birth?

Yes! We can accommodate any place of birth, including your home. If you do not see your location at check out please contact us directly so we can walk you through the process. We are available 24 hours a day for last minute inquires and questions: (213) 245-1497.

6. What if I have an infection or traumatic labor?

We use a series of safety and sanitation protocols to ensure all placentas are completely consumable despite any type of infection or birth trauma. We have a dedicated lab-based facility for encapsulating placentas equipped with NSF certified equipment, food grade plastics, and medical grade decontaminates. CDC recommended temperatures are utilized during each process while also retaining the bio-availability of every placenta.

7. Can I make payments during my pregnancy? Do you have a payment plan option??

You are able to manage and submit your final payment at your own convenience prior to completion of your placenta encapsulation process using your personal NuHealth Placenta, Inc. account login that is sent to you when you place your order here. If you have any questions please contact us directly by submitting your contact info here and a NuHealth Placenta consultant will reach out to you directly. You can also contact us directly via SMS at (213) 245-1497.

8. Is it still ok to do cord blood banking or delayed cord clamping?

Yes, it is still safe and effective to encapsulate your placenta even if you are doing cord blood banking or delayed the cord clamping.

9. How do I ask the hospital for my placenta? Will the hospital release it to me?

Please notify your nurse upon arrival to the birthing facility that you will be keeping your placenta. The hospital or birthing facility needs your permission to test, toss, or take your placenta from you for any reason. Your placenta is your legal property. A placenta release form will typically be provided for you by your hospital staff to document that you will be keeping your placenta and not the hospital itself.

10. Can I still encapsulate if I have a c-section?

Absolutely! We highly encourage our c-section mommies to encapsulate their placenta. The stem cells present in the amniotic sac of your placenta are highly beneficial in speeding up postpartum recovery after a major abdominal surgery along with hormone fluctuations post delivery of your baby.

11. Can I use HSA (Health Savings Account)?

You are able to use your HSA/HFA (Health Savings Account) to purchase your placenta encapsulation service here. For questions or inquiries please contact our 24 hour birth line: (213)245-1497 or fill out a contact form and a NuHealth Placenta Coordinator will get back to you within 1-2 business days.

12. Does the placenta lose its benefits after being processed?

Our placenta encapsulation process allows us to meet CDC recommended temperatures for eliminating specific bacteria infections while also retaining the bio-availability of your placenta found in it's hormonal and nutritional content from birth. We do not recommend processing your placenta using any other method due to potential bacterial or viral transfer that other processes may have.

13. How do I know I am getting my own placenta?

Your name and hospital info is confirmed at the time of pick up and your placenta is labeled once it is collected from you at your place of birth. If you are part of our nationwide SimpleShip option, your kit will include a pre-made label for your placenta encapsulation order. Your placenta and its label follow each order stage of your process from collection to completion and delivery. With a streamlined process using strict safety and sanitation protocols, your placenta is processed in a singular station with the label mentioned above allowing it to safely be consumed by the birthing person.

14. How long does it take to get my capsules back?

Placenta pill completion time frames will vary based on when the placenta is collected and received. Typically your placenta capsules are completed within 2-3 business days of your placenta being received.

15. What if I have an infection during my labor?

Our safety and sanitation standards provide the safest method of placenta encapsulation in the birthing industry. If you experience any type of infection brought on by a virus or bacteria our process will eliminate it during the process. The only time we cannot encapsulate a placenta is if you are AIDS/HIV+ or have an active Hep B/C infection.

16. When is it NOT safe to encapsulate my placenta?

Our business model does not allow us to encapsulate your placenta if you have an active Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C infection, or if you are HIV/AIDS positive.

17. What if I am GBS+ (Strep B)?

Our encapsulation method allows you to safely encapsulate your placenta if you are GBS+ (Group B Streptococcus). Our heated temperatures meet CDC recommendations for eliminating GBS+, Ecoli, and other bacterial strains; along with strict safety and sanitation protocol these will eliminate bacterial or viral infections that could be present during labor and delivery. This will allow you to safely consume your placenta and help provide benefits for you and your baby.
